Every mouthful counts, every movement counts
Our bodies require energy to maintain and perform body functions, and it obtains that energy from burning calories.
When boiling a kettle, a certain amount of electrical units are burnt up in order to heat the water; likewise a certain amount of calories are burnt up to keep us functioning.
Think of your calories as your electricity or energy supply:
If everything is going at full throttle, lots of units are used up
If your energy level is low, not many calories or units are used up
It is simply a matter of input versus output and getting the balance right
To lose weight calories expended must exceed calories consumed. Losing weight need not involve sacrifice and hardship. We do not have to possess an enormous amount of will-power to achieve a weight-loss. We are normal people, leading normal lives and eating normal food. Just by making healthier choices and choosing lower-fat alternatives wherever possible, our weight will improve.
We do not need to be perfect, and we can still enjoy life.
Aim to be 'not too bad considering' and 'better than you would have been, once upon a time'
because consistency is better than perfection.
